KinderPrep Early Years

This is a registered program.

Register once for this 8-week session. Thursday mornings from 10-10:30 throughout January and February.

Children aged 3 & 4 years are encouraged to attend on their own while their adults remain in the adjacent area. We use stories, songs, and puppets to create a fun focus on literacy, numeracy, patterning and other early learning concepts where kids can see and meet other kids.

Registration opens on Tuesday, November 28 at 9:30 am.

Please note that food and drinks are not permitted in the program room.

All children under 9 require an adult to remain in the Library throughout the duration of a program.

Halton Women's Place is a non-profit organization devoted to assisting abused women and their dependent children.

Drop-in to the Acton or Georgetown branch to learn more about community-based services for women and their children who are experiencing abuse, including support, community referrals, safety planning and crisis counselling.

Children who attend French schools in the area will be off of school on a PD day on Friday, February 2nd - so why not join Le Coin Franco de Halton Hills at the library to play some board games together in French? Join us from 2-3:30 in the program room at the Georgetown branch.

All ages are welcome!

Writers Circle Adult

This is a virtual program and will be offered through Zoom.

Our writers' group meets monthly to provide support and encouragement to new, aspiring, and experienced writers of all types of prose, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction works. Each meeting provides the opportunity for writers to share their works-in-progress and receive constructive comments from other group members. Whether you are new to writing or already have work published or unpublished, come and join our friendly group!

You must register to attend this online program. Zoom link will be sent out to all participants the afternoon prior to the program date.

Explore the Forest of Reading Children

This program is for babies aged 0-12 months, accompanied by a caregiver.

Join us in the Children's Program Room at the Georgetown Branch for a 30-minute program followed by a 30-minute voluntary stay-and-play. Babies are born ready to learn, and we have lots of nursery, tickle and bounce rhymes to share with new parents!

Please note that Baby Rhyme and Romp will not be held on Monday, February 19th. Please consult our calendar for other Family Day programming.

Halton Hills Lecture Series: A Story of Black History Told Through Art with Francesca Durham Adult

Black art stands as a testament to the resilience, innovation, and boundless imagination of these artists throughout history. In 2023 the Helson Gallery hosted the sixth annual Emancipation Art Exhibit, to explore and celebrate freedom though the perspectives of Black artists. Join us to learn more about this successful exhibition from Francesca Durham of the Halton Black History Awareness Society, as she relates how the exhibit served as a profound expression of the multifaceted Black experience, and the struggles, triumphs, and aspirations of a diverse community that has been both marginalized and celebrated.

Seedy Socials: Drop-in Seed Packaging for Adults Adult

Looking for a volunteer opportunity that supports the Library and connects you with others in the local community?

Join us for Seedy Socials in the Studio at the Georgetown Branch, select Wednesdays from February 7 to May 15, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Participants will assist library staff with processing our Seed Library inventory in a social environment, including counting seeds using measuring spoons, applying labels to seed envelopes, and separating donated seeds from the surrounding plant material. No experience required.
